pfSense is an appliance type of tool.
You can't separate the GUI from the rest of the application-logic.
Additionally, pfSense runs on a modified FreeBSD7-base and requires
"pf", the packetfilter of OpenBSD ported to FreeBSD to do most of the work.
No Linux involved, thank-god.
