I wish it made sense really, somehow processes are getting stuck with no apparent visible clue as to the cause. Most notably top which I use for gathering the CPU stats and sometimes rrdtool waiting for a lock on a rrd. We've been using this approach for the better part of 3 years and why it's stopped working now as it is astounds me.
