there is the PHP based developer Shell which enables you to adapt the
config array of the xml configuration. Then you have regular ssh access
which enables you to administer almost any aspect of the box including it's
xml configuration (plain file). Last but not least you have the
command-line interface of the web-gui which can be found under "diagnostics
-> command".

So there is no regular CLI interface like with rasterisk or other
(proprietary) router firmwares like the one provieded by 3com, HP, Brocade,
Juniper, Cisco [...]. Actually the one of Pfsense is easier to understand
and much straight forward to learn because you just have to do it once
(it's a FreeBSD!).

Especially when it comes to troubleshooting other bsd setups you will
always be able to debug any kind of bsd distribution out there which is
quite handy :) Anyway, is there some special kind of functionality you're
longing for?
