Question #43720 on pidgin in ubuntu changed: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+question/43720
JazzyPenguin proposed the following answer: I have never been able to get pidgin to reliably connect to MSN, either under Hardy or Intrepid. I have however managed to find a way that allows allows MSN to connect. It is really a practical solution but may point those that know in the right direction. In Intrepid I have been trying to set up a stable VPN connection to my works router (using the PPTP protocol). The default connection settings allow a VPN connection to be made but it is unstable, and loading pidgin reliably casues the VPN connection to fail. If I change the default MTU for the ppp0 connection from 1496 to 1400. This stabilises the VPN connection (i.e. loading pidgin does not cause the VPN to fail). In addition, MSN connects with no problem at all. If I can be of any help to anyone in solving the generalised MSN connectivity issue do please get it touch. -- You received this question notification because you are a member of Pidgin Support, which is an answer contact for pidgin in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Support mailing list [email protected] http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support
