There are two likely reasons for this:
* The firewall setup changed.
* You upgraded from a Pidgin version that used a different version of
the MSN protocol (this changed in Pidgin 2.5.0).

This is an issue that is specific to your network configuration -
updating / changing the configuration of your firewall (I can't tell
if it is a firewall on your local machine or one on the network that
is problematic).
