The Jabber issue you're seeing is probably caused by this bug:
http://d.pidgin.im/ticket/9956 .  There is a replacement libpurple.dll
at http://pidgin.im/~nosnilmot/2.6.1/srvfix/libpurple.dll that you can
use to work around the issue.

As far as ICQ goes, without additional information we can't really
guess what might be happening  The debug log
(http://d.pidgin.im/wiki/TipsForBugReports) might provide some
information that will help.
