The Jabber issue you're seeing is probably caused by this bug: http://d.pidgin.im/ticket/9956 . There is a replacement libpurple.dll at http://pidgin.im/~nosnilmot/2.6.1/srvfix/libpurple.dll that you can use to work around the issue.
