This is very likely an issue with GnuTLS. We encountered a similar
issue in the 2.8.x line, which was fixed in 2.8.2, but I've seen a
number of similar reports in the past few weeks, so I need to forward
one of these debug logs to them.
What version of Pidgin were you testing with and can you confirm that
it was using NSS, not GnuTLS (there will be 'nss' log messages in the
debug window instead of gnutls ones)?
