Up to now I've only used Pidgin (and Gaim before) with Yahoo Messenger,
without any problems.
All my contacts have been with Yahoo.
I'm trying to add a contact with a hotmail.fr address, and get the message :
"pas dans la liste du serveur" (not in the list of the server).
Under information for the contact,
"état" (state) has the same message, and under that the error message :
"erreur à la récupération du profil" (error retrieving the profile)
with a message to the effect that the profile has the air of being in a
language or format not supported for the moment.
I suspect that that is due to not being able to access the account.
I don't know if all this means that the email address is not set up for
instant messaging with microsoft's servers, or that maybe there is some
problem with the network, or maybe even with Pidgin.
My system is Mandriva Linux with Gnome, with Pidgin 2.6.6 compiled by
Mandriva installed. From their changelog it is compiled to support MSN,
and GNUTLS is installed.
It would also be very useful if there were a list of possible messages
with their implications.
(Maybe in the FAQ ?)
Anyone can clarify this for me ?
