After it installs GTK, how do we find which version of gtk has it installed. I found that GTK is not appearing anywhere in start menu, nor in Add/ Remove programs, and it was within program_files/pidgin folder, but I don't know where to look to know its version. pidgin's help-about doesn't provide any info about gtk version installed.

Similarly, is it pidgin that installed C++ redistributable 2005? If so, there is 2008 c++ redistributable available that I have to install for a different software. Will it be ok for pidgin to run if I install 2008 and uninstall this 2005?

Also, please do provide some method for us to know which c++ redistributable pidgin is using and where does it save that. It is indeed appearing in Add/ Remove programs, but not in start menu.

Thanks a lot.

I downloaded latest version, and found that it was downloading 10+ MB
GTK.zip which took a long time.

However, I could not find where it stored the downloaded file so that
I save that safely so that I don't need to re-download it if I format
my pc. Where does it save it?

It is suggested to ask for location to save the downloaded file and
store it there and run from there. Or, providing a link from where
user can download and install gtk.zip so that we can save it at some
known place.

My previous version of pidgin installer was already having gtk in the
zip file. If I install that, would the new pidgin run on that instead
of downloading afresh?

Thanks.
