I had my NWSChat all set up both on my home and work computers, but then
had to get a new home computer. I had to reinstall Pidgin on the new
computer and, already being familiar with the process, I think I did
everything right. However, when I opened the Buddy List box and (tried
to) enable my account, it wouldn’t enable…it says “not authorized.”
This was particularly critical this evening, as my NWS office phone
lines went down during today’s winter storm, and NWSChat was my only way
to communicate with them.
NWSChat is an XMPP based service run by the US National Weather Service.
For PIDGIN setup instructions, see
<https://nwschat.weather.gov/emPidgin.php>.
For account problems, you will need to contact the National Weather Service.
Authorisation problems generally result from putting the wrong username
or password into the client, but could be the result of policies
operated by the service. The pidgin users on this mailing list have no
access to NWS passwords.

Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want.
RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.
