The official MSN plugin ships with pidgin. You have, at some point,
downloaded and installed the msn-pecan plugin as well. When you did that I
couldn't tell you, whether you installed that system-globally or locally
for your user I don't know either.
But if you are still having MSN connection problems (almost a month later)
and wish to get more help solving the problem you need to find and remove
the msn-pecan version of the MSN prpl (protocol plugin) first.
