Hello,
I am trying to connect Pidgin to an external chat tool called OLARK. I am
trying to go through Port 80 due to firewall concerns. Is there any reason why
I can't connect? When I try to connect, it just says "connecting", does nothing
and times out. Any suggestions? I am going crazy here. Thanks

Tres, I would like to know that I have downloaded and installed the software in
my computer but I would like to know how to configure it on my system as well
as on the systems of other employees

Is there any possibility that you or anyone from your team can configure out
this software in my company easily through VIDEO call or something.

Best Regards,

Zaib

Zaib,

Deploying Pidgin depends entirely on your environment.

For a Windows SCCM/SMS install you may have luck pushing it out using the
unattended method described here:

https://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/Installing%20Pidgin#UnattendedInstallations

If you are in an environment that does not have SCCM or SMS, you may want to
use a group policy or script to push this out. Even batch files can work well
for this purpose.

You may also want to script the install of the dictionary files for spellcheck
if your users would benefit from that.

In terms of automatic configuration, %appdata%\.purple\ will contain XML
configuration files that you may have luck deploying to your clients (again,
assuming you're in a Windows environment).

As there is no technical guy who can modify or do amendment in it

Please guide me

Aurangzaib,

I would like to know more about Pidgin and pricing of this software

Pidgin is free, it costs nothing.

my friend told me that this software is use for local company use to connect
and communicate with every one

You are able to use it in your company free of charge.

The software license is released under the GNU General Public License.

Here's the explanation from the About page:

Pidgin is free and contains no ads. All our code is open source and licensed
under the GNU General Public License. This means you can get Pidgin's
underlying code and modify it to suit your needs, as long as you publish the
changes you make for everyone to benefit from as well.

I hope this information is useful.

Hello,

Is there any way to get the user at-a-glance online status for participants
in XMPP group chats (conferences) in the participant list ?
Right now I just see a bunch of users (some of them with an icon next to
their name) that may or may not be online at this moment and that's a bit
confusing in causing my thinking that they're still online.

Yes, I can right click and get the status through the "Info" command, but
that's a bit counter-productive in large group chats.

Running an 2.10.6 windows pidgin client in windows 8.

Thanks in advance,
Georgi Kodinov

I am running at version 2.10.7 and when I add new yahoo buddies I get a red
circle with the message "not on server list"
