Hello Everyone, A few days ago, I noticed a user posted a message about not being able to connect with Google Talk. It doesn't look like the problem was ever resolved and I'm having the same problem.
I'm using XUbuntu 11.10 and Pidgin 2.10.6. I haven't changed anything on my machine in a while. Pidgin was working fine with Google Chat and, all of a sudden, I can't establish a connection. This is the Google Chat related connection details from the debug log: (06:05:09) proxy: Connecting to gmail.com:5222. (06:05:09) proxy: Error connecting to gmail.com:5222 (Connection timed out). (06:05:09) proxy: Connection attempt failed: Connection timed out (06:05:09) jabber: Couldn't connect directly to gmail.com. Trying to find alternative connection methods, like BOSH. (06:05:09) dnssrv: querying TXT record for gmail.com: _xmppconnect.gmail.com (06:05:09) dnssrv: res_query returned an error (06:05:09) jabber: Unable to find alternative XMPP connection methods after failing to connect directly. (06:05:09) connection: Connection error on 0x216ca560 (reason: 0 description: Unable to connect) (06:05:09) account: Disconnecting account [email protected]/ (0x20f8d150) (06:05:09) connection: Disconnecting connection 0x216ca560 (06:05:09) jabber: jabber_actions: have pep: YES (06:05:09) connection: Destroying connection 0x216ca560 Looks like Google Talk just isn't answering connections from this client (or maybe not completing a handshake?) FWIW, I am able to establish a connection with Google in both my web browser and by telneting to (IIRC) talk.google.com 5222 Can anyone help me resolve this? Thanks! Anthony
