I strongly suggest upgrading to Pidgin 2.10.9, however, I doubt that
will fix this login problem.

Have you been able to login to gtalk using any other programs on this
computer? Or using Pidgin in the past? That error message isn't enough
for us to know the exact cause of the problem. You might find a more
detailed error if you open Help->Debug Window then try connecting.
Feel free to send that to this list, editing out any content you're
not comfortable sharing. And I suggest including [email protected] in
your reply, as it's extremely likely I won't have time to look at the
log.
