Are there major differences in password complexity? For example, does your password for both accounts use similar characters? Is there an activation process required or an account preference that enables it to be uses with a 3rd party client?
If it is a bug with Pidgin, isolating the differences between the accounts will help understand what might be causing the issue. -Tres
