Skype has no publicly accessible protocol documentation, so short of someone reverse engineering the encrypted protocol (which is not likely to happen), third party support of Skype is not currently possible.
Trillian used a component of Skype called SkypeKit, which itself is no longer supported and is in the process of being depreciated and potentially removed from Skype, so at this point, your only option is to use an open messenger network, or the proprietary Skype client.
