Title:SAS DEVELOPER
Location:Rich Mond, VIRGINIA.
Rate:best.scription:

Description:

*Summary:*

Large Financial Institution needs a resource for a 6 month, Full-Time,
On-Site in Richmond, VA with the need to support

end-users in McLean, VA and Plano, TX traveling to these other areas
periodically.

Expert in SAS programming and how to make programs operate more
efficiently. Needs experience with

accessing data from a mainframe, flat files and Teradata. Experience with SAS
GRID and Grid enablement is

necessary. In addition, creating dynamic code through the use of
MACROprogramming is a must.

This position is an end-user support role, hence experience in this role is
mandatory. The right resource will be

highly patient and have excellent communication skills since many of the
users that will be supported are new to

SAS. In depth of knowledge of Enterprise Guide and PC SAS is needed.

Experience with LINUX is very important since recently SAS was migrated
from UNIX and LINUX. Basic LINUX

experience is necessary, mostly how the difference between LINUX and UNIX
will affect users code.

*Background:*

A large Financial Institution is in the process of doing a complete
migration from UNIX to Linux servers. The

new LINUX environment is GRID enabled with 200 Cores. The version of SAS is
SAS9.3. Data resides in flat

files, Teradata and mainframe. The customer is looking for a coding expert
that has experience with GRID to

support end users during this transition. The end users are using a mix of
PC SAS and EG to run BASE SAS

code. The goal is to phase out the PC SAS and have every user on Enterprise
Guide.

* *

*Details:*

The technical individual needs to be an expert in SAS coding, Enterprise
Guide and have experience utilizing

GRID architecture to submit SAS code to. The following bullet points are
the areas that the customer feels

they need the most assistance with.

*Support end users* - During the migration from UNIX to LINUX there are
changes in the way the code

needs to be run. The users will need help modifying their code and
troubleshooting error messages.

This person will also be involved in the "training" of new users on how to
get things done in SAS.

Other things that the resource would be responsible for would be looking at
coding inefficiencies and

making the necessary recommendations on how to fix. The resource will have
to be well versed in the

SAS best practices as well as DATA STEP functions/options that increase
processing efficiency. In some

instances there are programs that have many hardcoded values that need to
be dynamic, therefore

strong experience with SAS MACRO is a requirement.

*Migration* ‐ Assisting users with all aspects of migration from the old
architecture to the new

architecture. This included the changes between UNIX and LINUX.

*GRID* ‐ Many of the users are not utilizing the GRID. The resource would
need to help users write code

that would be GRID enabled and run efficiently across all the nodes in the
GRID. In addition, users

would need to be taught to properly and efficiency use shared disk space
within the GRID.
