*Job Description:*

The Software Engineer will be actively involved in the development and
maintenance of several ENCORE team applications that provide imaging and
content management services to the business users of Sallie Mae. The
Software Engineer will be responsible for all life cycles of the
development process and will take key ownership of specified applications.

The Software Engineer should have strong .NET development skills working in
a combined Linux/Unix and Windows Environment. They will also need to learn
EMC Documentum's products, which are used as the backbone for the ENCORE
Team suite of applications.

1. Development/Analysis

·        Design, code, debug, test, document and maintain moderately
complex applications software.

·        Write unit test plans and perform test runs.

·        Research and resolve production problems.

·        May perform small to moderate degree of business analysis and/or
technical analysis.

·        Perform system migrations.

2. Project/Release Activities

·        Participate in design sessions and assist with design for small to
medium projects.

·        Attend project/release meetings to learn and understand process.

·        May lead small projects.



*Mandatory Skills and Requirements:*

*Education:* Bachelor's Degree -- Computer Science, Computer Technology or
related area

·        Understanding of Oracle/SQL Databases and the use of SQL.

This position requires a production support with some development
background. It will include oncall support and rotation. Primary
responsibility included helping various development teams with day to day
support with webservices infrastructure. The candidate is expected to have
some knowledge of webservices troubleshooting, XSLT, custom
code,monitoring, with some development background. Ideal candidate would be
someone with background in production support with web technologies such as
Webservers, App server etc. in a 24x7 support environment and ability to
learn and adopt new technologies.

be developing new functionality, but it is a 70/30 split between

*Job Summary:*

Responsible for the maintenance of existing applications. Work
collaboratively with a team of experienced analysts, architects, developers
and business resources to develop the best solution to meet the
requirements. Perform all duties assigned by the Project Leader or Team
Lead.


Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Ensure proper follow-through on all directives, bulletins and schedules
from the Corporate Office and Project Leader or Team Lead. Maintain a good
flow of communication with the Department employees and within the
Corporation.

2. Make sure customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous attention
for all contacts and transactions.

3. Be familiar with procedures for handling all aspects of customer
complaints and disputes and resolve any customer complaints in a friendly,
courteous manner. Advise the Project Leader or Team Lead of serious
complaints or incidents.

4. Accept and complete programming tasks for new development or maintenance
to existing applications. Provide estimates to the Project Leader or Team
Lead for work to be completed. Work with Business Analysts and Database
Administrators in the design of applications.

5. Translate functional requirements into software application designs and
implement those designs; perform application development. Unit test all
work prior to moving to Software Quality.

6. Troubleshoot and investigate production issues found in applications.

7. Mentor other team members in regards to software design, analysis and
development tips and techniques.

8. Become familiar with the business operations for the organization and
make recommendations for improvement where appropriate.

9. Work with the Project Leader or Team Lead to achieve maximum results
through the software development lifecycle process and adhere to all
development processes and procedures.

10. Assist with training other information technology team members
regarding the department’s tools, applications, policies and procedures.
Function as a secondary point of contact to answer questions and provide
functional leadership.

11. Perform code review with team members and work with Project Leader or
Team Lead to develop quality and procedural processes.

12. Assist the management team with evaluating 3rd party vendor application
packages.

13. Practice and promote teamwork at all times. Set a good personal example
of attitude and performance.

14. Monitor all area related conditions, property and equipment within
corporate standards for cleanliness, proper maintenance and safety. Advise
Maintenance of all breakdowns and maintenance immediately.

15. Make sure all area conditions do not threaten employee safety. Respond
to and follow proper procedures on employee accidents, injuries, and loss
or damage to any property. Report all incidents immediately. Practice and
instruct all employees in proper loss prevention and reaction procedures.
Report all incidents properly and immediately.

16. Must know, practice and ensure that company policies and procedures and
state and federal laws are followed at all times. Ensure that no company,
employee or customer information is inappropriately divulged to
unauthorized parties.








*Qualifications and Experience Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s Degree
in Computer Science or equivalent experience required. Experience: A
minimum of five (5) years software development experience and a minimum of
three (3) years experience with .NET and SQL Server experience required. C#
and WCF. Additional Skills: Proficient in at least four (4) of the
following languages: MS or Oracle SQL Server stored procedures; Visual
Basic; C# or .Net; PowerBuilder, or ASP.*

*Must have SQL Server 2008 or newer, must be able to explain how to get
date on various tables and how to investigate performance issues and
correct them.*
