decoding a 4-track (b-format) ambisonics recording is one thing and encoding a 
mono source to ambisonics field is another one

you can only decode b-format material so the question is how to obtain one. one 
way is to record something with a special mike, the other is to encode mono or 
stereo signals to b-format using some special software (like max/msp, pd or 
supercollider for example or some ambisonics plugin with logic) - I guess this 
is what you are interested in

But bare in mind that 4 speakers is the absolute minimum for proper ambisonics 
reproduction and I am not sure if deserves the fuss..
