We manufacture two different products, X-spat boX which is a DSP
workstation for 3D audio, and X-spat player, which is a modular
multichannel player (4 units in chain for 32 channels) with several
options like videosync, IP remote control, AUX in routing and so on.
The price is caused by the quality of the player itself, it is not
made in China and we payed a lot of attention to the sound quality of
converters and to the stability and reliability of the components.
More, we must consider the software development costs, we include in
the package free of charge the remote control software for Win, mac
and Linux. BTW the street-price is lower than the one on official
price list (reserved to the traditional distribution channels), if
you buy on internet via paypal you can find it at 1000-1100 Euro but
you have to pay taxes and shipment.
I have found disturbing the word "ridicolous" used by Mr. Levine in
his comment, I think that Surround Sound Group users should be more
polite and be sure to have all the elements necessary to express a
valuable opinion before to be offensive and imprecise. It is easy to
make a low cost product today, what is difficult is to provide a good
tool and make it that users can rely on it.
