Unfortunately, 'the ambisonics decoding equation (for custom rigs of arbitrary speakers)' does not exist (as far as I'm aware). For 'almost regular' speaker layouts you can use methods for regular ones and then tweak them manually. For arbitrary setups there are some numerical methods that can get you close. Have a look at Franz Zotter's work <http://iem.at/Members/zotter>, in particular the second paper in the Publications section.
