Dear all,

I'm trying to persuade the institution where I sometimes work to
shell out for a B-format recording kit. The budget doesn't run to
an st350 + sounddevices, so I'm looking around for alternative
setups. They have 4 track edirol's but we've already noticed
how noisy their mic amps can be.

Has anyone been working with the tascam DR-680 with a
TetraMic in a quiet field recording situation? anyone know
how it compares to the Edirol in that context?

a Soundfield SPS 200 could also be a possibility. Again -
the Edirol doesn't allow you to gang the gains and the
new soundfield micamp only seems to work on 240v(!) so
we'd probably need another recorded anyway.

any tips greatly appreciated,

best wishes, Justin
