Many thanks to everyone (Eric, Josh, Jascha, Umashankar, Martin, Jim, Michael,
Bo-Erik, Dave, Peter, Fons, and the other Michael... I hope I didn't forget
someone) who took the time to share experience, there was a tremendous amount
of posts!

It seems everyone goes "passive" when it comes to loudspeakers: I was almost
sure that active monitors weren't the right way to achieve a portable setup,
but I was asking because we already have some here. Anyway I'd rather go with
some lightweight passive ones, because of all issues some of you explained
(thanks to Dave Malham, I now know Ambisonics could be physically dangerous!).
Regarding the wrong mixed-order setup, Martin was totally right of course
(that's two more stands in my car, I'm considering buying a van now). The
T-Amps look very promizing if they are so light (my back has harsh memories of
some QSC amp racks, that's why active monitors looked so appealing!).

About the lightning stands, this Sunday I also found some garden tent (or
pergolas) poles that could be used instead of the Manfrottos, they are much
cheaper and have a detachable (quite heavy) base. Some fabrication involved
anyway, as many said before.

After all, I'm almost sure there could be a small market for such setups. The
only (pricey!) commercial solution I'm aware of is the Acousticurve
(http://www.vrsonic.com/hardware/acousticurve). (by the way, is their so-called
Wave Point Sampling _yet_ another Ambi-WFS avatar?). I'll go the artisanal way!

Thanks again,

Frank
