It's a bit peripheral to the generality of this discussion, but I read the above as the default elevation for cube arrays in Harpex and VVMic is 45 degrees. It's rather counter-intuitive, but the elevation of the 'corners' of cube is such that cotangent(elevation) = sqrt(2), which gives an elevation significantly less than 45 degrees. (I think that's about 35 degrees, but I am out of the office and away from my tables (yes I still use a book of tables;-)>.)
