b-format and waveformat extensible support has been available on adobe CS-5's
version of audition. in earlier versions, audition would open a multichannel
file as that many mono files. it now opens as a single multichannel file, and
ambisonics files get identified as w,x,y and z. this makes using plug ins like
vv mic and wigambi decoder very easy to use. there are a few kinks still. if
you use vvmic and create a stereo file, it will save as a four channel file
with two silent channels possibly I am making a mistake somewhere. I have used
cool edit and its successors for almost 20 years now.
