Poor Mike. A good friend through AES who visited me on occasion on his bike. I hope his soul rests in peace, he was a charming individual indeed.

He was a unique and precious individual. Experienced, dedicated, knowledgeable, and practical, with a quirky sense of humour. I am the lucky possessor of one of his binaural CDs.The first time I met him at his house I was greeted with one of his home-made binaural microphones: two kitchen sieves with a hinge, arranged so that the two handles coincided, filled with foam into which two Schoeps capsules were inserted at the ear positions. These were connected to a portable MiniDisc recorder which fitted into the back of the head. All encased i a furry windshield. He would travel round on his motorcycle recording all sorts of things. The following two hours were a demonstration of an apparently endless selection of microphones, mounting hardware, and self built electronics (mic amps, mixers, amplifiers) nearly all miniature, beautifully made, and highly portable. His memo ry should certainly be preserved, though I personally don't have room for it, or enough resources to maintain it.As John Leonard said, he was a long term member of the AES. I hope someone there knows of a good home for his collection. There certainly must be some audio recordings of some of his presentations to AES meetings, which could give those who never met him an impression of him.Ciao,Dave Hunt------------------------------Message: 3Date: Sun, 20 Dec 2015 15:08:21 -0800From: Eric Benjamin To: Surround Sound discussion group Subject: Re: [Sursound] The Mike Skeet CollectionMessage-ID: <[email protected]>Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"Through a strange coincidence, I emailed Mike last night to discuss one of his binaural recordings that I had just listened to. To read that he has passed on is eery. I was only acquainted with him, but the last time that we corresponded he invited me to drop by for a pint, not realizing that I was half the world away.He will be remembered, for the legacy of his many recordings.Eric Benjamin-------------- next part --------------An HTML attachment was scrubbed...URL: ------------------------------Subject: Digest Footer_______________________________________________Sursound mailing [email protected]https://mail.music.vt.edu/mailman/listinfo/sursoundWHEN REPLYING EDIT THE SUBJECT LINE AND THE MESSAGE BODY------------------------------End of Sursound Digest, Vol 89, Issue 22**************************************** -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
