Hi,

Just recently a number of companies seem to be offering basic ambisonic
plug-ins with a binaural decode for use in VR audio.

Obviously they are all aiming at the 3D video market.

All seem to offer the use of a head tracker.

The last seems to provide a way to prepare audio files for use in the Unity
games engine, like the TwoBigEars/Facebook Spatial Workstation.

They will all work with ProTools HD, the last only with ProTools, and the first
two with Reaper. Not all alternative hosts would be suitable, though Nuendo and
Cubase should work.

The Waves version seems to work with their Nx Virtual Room plug-in, originally
offered as a way of monitoring mixes binaurally in a simulated studio
environment.

All seem to be first order ambisonics only. No loudspeaker decoders are offered
as yet.

It had to happen, and I hope that this is just a start.

Ciao,

Dave
