I have (at home) a program which came with a Western Digital
"Caviar" series drive before LBA in BIOS was popular. It's called
Disk Manager, by OnTrack. I may also still have the Seagate
version of that.
If you are willing to buy a WD Caviar series drive, this program
(which mounts as a pre-boot driver) will give you access to the
whole disk. It handles all the drive "blocking" math.
Very reliable. I installed in on an 850mb Caviar 3 years ago.
No down time at all.
I can post this driver at my download page and give you the
URL directly (it won't show on the page, you'll have to enter
the URL and trust the Force).

Wanna do that?
