I bought myself a Lazer disc movie, and i've seen that it was possible
to play the movie using my computer CD-ROM, and a player for Windows
95 (VMPEG.. a player from ATI, got it with my card.).
I've seen the movie, but while watching I got curios: is there a player
for such videos for DOS? the entire movie is encoded in MPEG and is
in a file. The CD is in normal DOS CD format. (no LFN anywhere,
thankfully). There is an autorun.inf file for Windows users which
directs to a player, and the way the disc is structured hints that
that the hardware lazer-disc players (the conventional types you buy
for your TV, like a video player) seems to look for a specific file in
a specific directory. The extension is .dat (not very informative).
So.. all we need now is an encoder+player. Anyone know of such?
It will be intresting to see these movies in DOS.. :) will save
the long boot time, too.
