On the practical (soldering) side: it's easier to use one of those
"jumper box" intermediary adapters.

Fraser's scheme seems simply enough:

twist between each pins: 2 x 15
                          3 x 13
                          4 x 12
                          5 x 10
                          6 x 11
connect straight pins: 16, 17, 25

(For those who followed the Tandy-100 thread: at the time there were
"all sorts of" accoustic couplers, each with different pin connections
to twist - so I soldered on one of these jumper boxes some rows of dip
switches which gave nearly all possible combinations. That "switchbox"
still serves now.)

Great info !
Now comes the QUESTION: do comm progs allow to use the parallel ports ?!
Or the other way roun: Which progs allow (what sort of) parallel port
use ?!
