Err, no, not precisely, for starters, there are a lot of copies of those
disks floating around with reg numbers, also, one can for instance use one
win98 update disk with the number from another, and only use the win95 disk
for verification, not needing the win95 number. The number does have to
follow a specific format, but may not have to be specific to the disk.
Like, there may be a few formulas with a variety of possible numbers
attached, so that you have several numbers which could access several
disks, but no way to match which ones to which. I know one fellow used a
copy disk with a serial number from a store window!
There are a LOT of copies with a LOT of SN floating around out there.
Also, just because you purchased the software, doesn't mean you loaded your
real name, ph# and addy into the computer when you loaded the software.
Only your ISP knows for sure...
