In order for pine to send your proper user-id, you will have to login with
the name you use on your provider. Pine will not allow you to change the
user-name side of your email address. This is actually a good thing
because it prevents spamming and such. Besides, you shouldn't be using
your system as root on a user style basis anyway, since a single mistype
will wipe out your entire drive, whereas a user can't do that sort of
thing. You should always use linux (or any other unix for that matter) as
a normal user unless you require root access to perform a spacific
function. At that point, it's easy enough to su to root, or simply login
again to perform that spacific action, then exit the root shell again.
Simply create yourself an account that has the username that is the same
as the one on your provider, and your current problem will go away.
