Yesterday win98 went on vacation or something! I really never have had it working properly, theres always some device not working but I limp along. Yesterday after I installed freetel it all went kaboom. Couldn't just uninstall freetel, though I've since erased all trace of it. Did put back the old system.ini but that wasn't enough. I could start up in safe mode, but not in normal mode. Been down this road many times. System just hangs, until you disable or remove all devices, then you slowly add the devices back on till you have it limping again. Well, this time the display adaptor went strange. Kept telling me there was another main adaptor conflicting with the only adaptor that existed! Finally manually removed all display drivers and reinstalled with good fortune. Still can't get the sound card to work right, never got the modem working. The standard ide hard disk controller never got right either, it's always shown in device manager as not properly installed but no amount of reinstalling fixes it and it won't tell me what's wrong with it. Crazy O/S! I hear M$ is coming out with a patch/fix for win98 this spring, wonder what that'll be like? If they could get the bugs out it would be a pleasant system to use. Anyway, don't know if I'll be online or not or how much next while, may be reinstalling again! bye, Yolanda UIN 4898262 http://members.home.net/pippi5 How do you get holy water?
