Having some difficulties with my sound card I started Norton diagnose and found that my DMA controller failed. According to the help file if this is the case the 8237 DMA controller has to be exchanged. How does this chip look like and is it a controller which can by any means be influenced by the CMOS setup? Also the interrupt controller does not receive the IRQ from the timer. Are those things interconnected? Somebody with a understanding of hardware related problems has ideas?
