Well Pipi, one of my mottos is "The future is NOW.". I guess that
this fit the situation you described. :)
There are a few questions that I would like to ask, though.
Can today's PCs be made to the computers you described?
Have the person who bought them had something like this in mind?
I guess that the companies who are trying to make the computer easy
to use can use the excuse of "Yes, and we are the ones who are making
it so!", but that wouldnt be true then. I believe that instead of
trying to turn the PC into this system, such a "home computer"
should be designed for this function, from the begining. The PCs
are very suitable.. to be PCs. I guess that they can be made to be
a "simple home-computer", but not really a full one.
I would like to see a home computer like you described
which I can use voice commands at, and maybe even have actuall
conversation with (which will probebly give more work to psicologists
shortly thenafter, you'll see! <g>), however the PCs do not seem to be
my ideal idea for the hardware platform.
BTW, MS think that it IS the ideal model. Thats partly the idea
behind their "universal PnP" that was developed in Windows 2000.
(also called: NT5). You'll be able to control the dishwasher from
your computer, and the TV, and so on.
.. for some reason the idea of having WINDOWS to control my house
doesnt sound too appealing. :)
