I have some thoughts on multitasking...
You DONT NEED multitasking if the current program you are using is
complex and resource hungry. You do need multitasking for file
managment, and simple routine tasks that often need to be accessed
while using another program.
So why not make the best of both worlds and make a real mode desktop
program that runs from DOS, and loads various drivers for video,
sound etc and can multitask it's own built-in programs like file
manager, calculator, organiser, web browsing, email etc and also has
to ability to run another program, either a regular DOS program that
takes control of the system, or special programs written for the
desktop program that uses the same video drivers etc that you can
also multitask with the built in programs.
Sort of like Winblows 3.1 but real mode, and can only run one program
apart from the built in features.
