Hi Bernie, On Tue, 29 Jun 1999, in the SurvPC list Bernie <[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: }- I checked my disk before using a RAM-Drive and came up with: }- Number of lost clutsers and program: }- 3 Arachne (probably wwwman.exe) crashing/locking (trying to }- view very big directories with several hundreds or even }- thousands of files/directories) [snip] }- So Boanne do you use Arachne to view very big directories? }- That could explain some of the lost clusters. YES, I have used Arachne both online and off to look at big directories, most often to view Arachne's cache itself, which can get pretty big, especially if loading images. The biggest directory I have on my machine is a directory of fonts for NeoPaint that contains 529 files. I just fired up Arachne on the RAM disk (off line) and looked at that directory. Then I ran CHKDSK and sure enough there were 4 lost clusters. So now the only other thing to do see if others can reproduce this on their machines. I we've found the cause of this problem. Thanks very much Bernie :) Boanne -- FROM: Over the hills and far away...
