Can anyone offer me any help regarding what flavours of RELIABLE DOS
are available. I have used MS-DOS5 for years and it has done quite well,
but I am tempted by some of the improvements offered by, for example,
DR-DOS7. I also see references to IBM-DOS occasionally.
I once tried MSDOS6.22 and it crashed my HDD dreadfully - scrambled
the FAT or somethig. Someone said that it was due to my CMD 640X VLB
disk interface card, but that hasn't so far played up with DOS5.
My machine is a 486DX fitted with AMD processor chip, 4Gb HDD, Diamond S VLB
graphics card, VLB motherboard and AMI BIOS.
Any clues very gratefully received!
All the best,
Ron
