Before you take it back, check the CMOS setup on the laptop - Some laptops
power-down the serial port when there's no data transfer taking place, to
save power. If this is the case with yours, see if disabling it is possible.
This is ONE (of many) things that can interfere with LapLink, InterLink, and
similar programs functioning properly over a serial connection.
