It does work on a herc monitor. But then, will you buy the whole OS
just to use it's EDIT.COM ? ;-)
Meanwhile, I just downloaded PEDIT and found out that it has the same
memory constrain with MS-DOS 6.22 text editor. It won't allow me to
load multiple and/or extremely large files.
Most likely Win9x EDIT.COM using some sort of undocumented way to
access XMS memory, as I've never seen any normal XMS calls work so
fast like this on a slow machine. I'm just wondering, if someone
could reverse-engineer Win9x EDIT.COM to find out how it's memory
manager work, will this be useful to overcome Bobcat 8086's memory
constrain problem? And how the legal consequences will be?
