Here's the thing: It's an IBM Aptiva 2144 M50 (100 mhz/ 1gig HD/ 16 M mem/ mwave card/ 4x cdrom drive/ 1 floppy- 3.5). I used to have Win95 on it.. but after problems ,I decided to erase windows. So i physically rebooted to DOS,and deleted WINDOWS directory (first of my problems) and reformatted the drive with MSDOS 6.0  I figured I'd just do a whole new win95 install later.... well that time has come when i have need of it. Guess what? I cant get my cdrom drive to cooperate. I bought new cables and I've checked the cd drive in another machine.. it works. But when I put it back into this machine, it detects it at boot time, but after booting it says invalid drive specification. can anyone help??
I bought the machine used a year ago. The backup software is supposed to be on some CDs also  but it all seems to be password protected.. at least the recovery cd. I am trying to unzip them from a Packard Bell machine...but some of the files wont fit onto a disk to be transported to that machine.. got a better idea??
