SMPTE time code (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers)
uses an 80-bit word, I believe, for HH:MM:SS:FRAME and overhead.
Used for synchronizing picture with other time-based info (i.e. sound,
other NTSC video, etc.)...   probably not what you were thinking of!
