Is anybody running Star Office for Linux with less than 64 MB of RAM?
If so, how much? How responsive is it?

I seem to recall that 64 MB was recommended - right now I've only got
48 and no plans to buy RAM (yes, I do know how cheap it is these
days, but...). I also accidently blew away the copy of SO that I had
downloaded but not yet copied to CD - about 8 hours worth. My own
stupidity.

The question is, do you think it is worth the effort/time or money
(assuming you're buying)?

I am quite happy with WordPerfect - in fact I like it a bit better
than the OTHER major w/p. And I notice that the spreadsheet program
that comes with Gnome (RH 6.0) does accept Excel files, although it
doesn't seem to generate them. And I don't really need, MS
look-and-feel that StarOffice gives....

I've used SO for Win - and with only 32 MB of RAM on a 100 MHz
Pentium it feels "mushy" - you click a button and there's just enough
delay to be strange. I suspect the same will be true with low memory
on a Linux box. Comments? Experiences?

Bob
