Hello Everyone,

I have this "thing" I found in an old XT clone I bought at Goodwill. It has
a phone jack on it, but doesn't really look like a modem. It is a small
board mounted on a piece of angled aluminum. It was then bolted up to one
of the holes for a serial port or parallel port in the back of the case. It
connects directly to the motherboard by a flat ribbon cable that plugs into
a dip socket at the head of the 3rd ISA slot. The piece of aluminum look
like what you might find at a hardware store, but this thing isn't homemade.
It says "uSpeed Freemont California 94538" "Fast 88", and "Made in the USA
and were proud of it".

It has only 4 small chips on it, 4 jumpers, a few of what looks like
resistors, and also and what looks like 4 frequency chip deal
thingamabobs. The chips are as follows:

Fast88-1
Fast88-2
D8284A 8438DKP (has an AMD symbol)
D8284A 8438DKP (has an AMD symbol)

I don't think the motherboard is anything special. The MB and most of the
components in this computer were made in Tiawan. I only saved this "thing",
the ST-225 and it's contoller, the case, the power supply, and the Teac
floppy drives.

Anybody know what this thing is?

Anybody ever heard of the company, uSpeed?
