Sure, Point your web browser to:
http://www.simtel.net/
and follow the links down to the pub and msdos and database pages and
download to your heart's content and try them out.
SimTelNet is best accessed with Anonymous FTP at:
ftp://ftp.simtel.net/
and then after pressing enter twice to accept "anonymous" as your log-in and
your e-mail address as your password, wait for the list to come up and them
change directory to:
pub/simtelnet/msdos
and then change to the data or database directories and download files.
Each directory has an index file that gives a very brief description along
with size in kilobytes and date of creation of each of the files in the
directory.
Another possible choice might be Charles Hallenbecks SSS version 2.0
personal information program at his website:
http://www.mhonline.net/~chuckh/sss20.zip
You can also find other DOS database software demos and shareware, and
freeware programs at:
ftp://ftp.garbo.uwasa.fi/
ftp://ftp.microelectronics.com/
http://www.microelectronics.com/
and then be totally swamped with thousands of choices from search engines
like
Yahoo, Google, AltaVista, Excite, HotBot, and DogPile.
And, believe it or not, there are still hundreds of BBS systems with large
file bases still up and running.
