German 'puter mag C'T just printed the Palm Pilot pin definition for
modem connection; seems that the simple cable by itself is prohibitively
expensive.

Note that the *modem* (in-)pins are for a nine-pin connector too:

PALM MODEM (which could be perhaps like
9-pin 9-pin this for a 25-pin MODEM connector)
----- ----- -------------------------------

NC 1 .
TxD 2 -------- 3 TxD ------------- 3
RxD 3 -------- 2 RxD ------------- 2
NC 4 .
SG 5 -------- 5 SG ------------- 7
DTR 6 -------- 4 DTR ------------- 20 ? (on 6 ?)
CTS 7 -------- 8 CTS ------------- 5 ? (on 4 ?)
RTS 8 -------- 7 RTS ------------- 4 ? (on 5 ?)
NC 9 .
                 1 DCD not connected
                 9 RI not connected

NC evidently means not connected; SG probably means "signal ground" ?

I'm not sure about my guesswork re pins 20, 4 an 5 on the 25-pin
MODEM (sic) connector: perhaps they should be twisted ?
