Hi, When you buy the really cheap Chinese-made motherboards, one of the
downsides you run into is that such things as serial ports, onboard
controllers, and such often fail. Part of the problem is that on many of
those boards all the I/O circuitry is controlled by one chip. Also, you
get broken or badly formed connections from one part of the board to another
within the printed circuitry on the board. Many people like the idea of
spending less than $100 on a full-featured brand new motherboard, thinking
they're getting a good deal, and then insist on better quality of hard
disks, video cards, sound cards, etc., after skimping on, not only the
motherboard, but on the case and power supply, and usually on the keyboard
also. When you buy that really cheap new motherboard, remember that you
very often really don't get what you don't pay for.
