Look for drivers at the NIC manufacturer's web site. If you
can't find one specifically for Win3.x, use the one for DOS
and load whatever you need at boot time.

Windows 3.1 was not distributed with any network support,
but it can handle the addition of one protocol easily.
Presumably, for internet use, you'd want that protocol to
be TCP. Download a shareware TCP stack such as Trumpet
Winsock and you have your TCP. You will not, however, be
able to "see" other machines on the LAN, when it comes to
file and/or printer sharing.

You can also run your TCP out of DOS if you like, and run
Windows on top of that. Problem is this will load your
machine's memory with lots of space-hogging drivers that
will only actually be doing anything when you're
networking, and might interfere with applications with
large memory requirements. If that happens, use a boot
manager.
