Not backup per se, but FreeDrive (www.freedrive.com) provides 50MB of disk
storage for free (with obligatory sign up). They do seem to have accepted my
fictitious identity, so I'm reasonably comfortable using it ... though truth
be told, I've yet to have a good reason to do so.
Now, the entire thing is web driven. To upload files, you enter names one at
a time via a form interface. To ease things, you might collect files
together in a ZIP or similar format to reduce the actual number of files
uploaded. I have no idea what your bandwidth situation is, but this might
also reduce transmission times significantly.
For those convinced anything but straight HTML (or even that) is Satan's own
work, this service won't be much good. On the other hand, it is free.
McAfee Mail (www.mcafeemail.com) also provides another alternative,
including online backup/sync of mail, address books, and Favorites/Bookmark
lists. Again free, but also somewhat Windows-centric. I don't think the
online world is particulary inclined (nor obligated) to support straight DOS
anymore.
Hope this helps!
