On my 286/16 I called pkzip with a batch file. Pkzip would search the hard drive for all (data) files from a pre-configured list (@GROUP.LST) in the root directory. The program would recurse thru all sub directories, compress the data files and copy ... (or you can use backup) them to a floppy or floppies as needed. I had batch files that would do this on a daily and monthly basis. The monthly backup would delete the daily backups. My notes are from 1993 and this is a DOS version of PKZIP.
